Why I don't want to be involved in Twitter drama anymore...

Hi everyone,

I know this doesn't take the shape of one of my usual posts, but a lot has been going down lately and I feel I need to address it, as it's getting worse and people are getting hurt. I also know I'm gonna get a lot of abuse and stick for this, but I've already come prepared. I've turned the comments off and protected my account on Twitter.

Recently there has been a lot of drama pertaining to the death of George Michael, his partner has come under attack lately by members of the public and fans on Twitter. I have also received some unthinkable abuse from one individual just because I stated that I did not want to be involved in it as I did not know the facts, and it was futility making assumptions about someone I did not really know. Not only was I blocked, the individual proceeded to insult and slander me about my appearance, and level of intelligence, saying I was fat, ugly, and braindead, despite the fact they did not know what I looked like, and clearly did not know me that well. It took a lot of convincing for me to actually stay on social media. Now people wonder why I rarely post photos of my actual self online or go live on Periscope! They really hurt my feelings and ruined what self esteem I had managed to regain following being bullied for 5 years at secondary school. Also, this individual has attacked others in the same way, but one of the most extreme cases was even stooping so low as to witchhunt people. Twitter has since decided that their account does not violate the Community Standards, despite there being irrefutable evidence of hate speech and targeted harassment . This really really infuriated me and certainly forced me to question the legitimacy of this so called 'fan' and if I actually want to stay on social media anymore. For the mean time, I'm staying. I'm not going to let one individual ruin the fun.

I'm writing this post not because I want to witchhunt someone, it's just simply me refusing to be part of any current drama that is going down on Twitter or on social media. Former friends have gotten me tangled up in some pretty serious stuff in the past, resulting in me getting blocked by the Toto guitarist for absolutely no reason and lectured about respect like a 5 year old by another one. In addition, a lot of backlash where the perpetrator has made a comment saying I was asking for it, basically, having the blame suppressed on to me, and abusive comments left, right and centre.

So if you ask me for my take on the GM lover case, I won't give it you. I refuse to take sides because one way or another negativity would occur and from past experience I know that taking sides results in even more drama, so I'm trying to avoid it where necessary. I don't know the person that is being targeted personally, I don't know the truth and the facts; no assumptions would be made anyway.

I am taking a stance with all the other fans who wish to remain peaceful and neutral in all in that is going on. So if you want to try and get me tangled up in your fallings out and discussions, try, but you'll just get blocked in the end.

Sorry for complaining, I just wanted to get it off of my chest, please note that this blog focuses solely on the POSITIVES and rarely on the negatives. I try and avoid biased things like this, but I felt that today it had to be a one off. I promise to avoid doing things like this again.

Stay tuned later on in the week for a couple more of my favourite Top Tens and some more motivational quotes...there may also be another LP or CD haul, but you'll have to wait and see for that!

With all that being said, I hope you had a happy Valentine's Day yesterday and felt motivated by the Wednesday Wisdom I posted earlier.

See you in the next post.
